DR ODETTE LAZARUS

Dentist

Dr Odette Lazarus graduated from the University of the Western Cape with a BChD in 1993.She began her practising career in England, working in a London practice for 3 years before moving to Bishop's Stortford where she worked for 6 years. In October 2002, she and Dr Bertie Napier took over the 19 Bell Street Dental Practice from Mr Richard Fentiman.

Dr Lazarus is passionate about providing a high standard of care and understanding to all patients. She has a special interest in Cosmetic Dentistry and regularly attends courses, conferences and seminars both in the UK and internationally to keep her knowledge and skills up to date. Odette holds Full membership of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the British Dental Association.

She is married to Stephen who is a keen ultra-marathon runner. They have two young adult sons.

DR BERTRAND NAPIER

Dentist

Born and raised in the foothills of the Drakensberg mountains, Dr Napier graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1988 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. After practising dentistry in South Africa for 10 years, he moved with his young family to the UK in 1998. In 2002 he and Dr Odette Lazarus took over the 19 Bell Street Dental Practice.

Dr Napier's special interest in Cosmetic and functional Dentistry has led him to study further, not just the latest techniques for cosmetic dentistry, but also the functional problems that often lead to dental problems for many people. His philosophy is one of saving natural teeth wherever possible, as he believes there is nothing better than our own teeth and improving people's smiles should be done ethically and conservatively, always utilizing minimally invasive options where possible.

He has undertaken additional training in the fields of Cosmetic Dentistry, Restorative dentistry, Occlusion, Surgical and restorative Implant dentistry, Adult braces (including 6Month Smiles, Inman Aligner, C-fast, Invisalign and Fastbraces), Laser Dentistry training and CADCAM (Cerec) Dentistry. Dr Napier served as President of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD) in 2016 and he is editor of the International Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is an active member of the BACD, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), the British Society of Occlusal Studies (BSOS), the London Dental Fellowship (LDF) and the British Dental Association.

DR LEWIS WAGNER

Dentist

Dr Wagner qualified in the wonderful wine country of Stellenbosch University in 1980 (B.Ch.D. Stell.), going on to further studies in Oral Medicine in 1988 (Hons B.Ch.D. Oral Med) while running his own practice in Hermanus, on the southern Cape coast.

After moving to the UK with his family in 1992, he settled in Bishop's Stortford to work at The Dentist where he developed interests in Prosthetic/Cosmetic dentistry, Endodontics and Implant surgery. These interests led to an M.Sc. degree in Implant Dentistry from Warwick University in 2008 (M.Sc. Implant Dent), enabling him to offer this service at other practices in the area.

He has been appointed an Honorary Fellow at the University of Warwick since 2009, assisting with the marking of M.Sc. Implantology students' assignments. He is a Supervisor of final year students in their Professional Projects and Clinical cases. This keeps him up to date with the latest developments in the field of Implantology ensuring the clinical application of evidence-based procedures.

He is also interested in general Oral Surgery as this is closely linked to the field of Implantology and he continues to attend various other courses to keep up to date with the latest developments in general dentistry as well and makes use of the latest technology in providing the best possible treatment for all patients.

DR DOMINIQUE NAPIER

Dentist

Dr Napier qualified from King's College London in 2018 and after a year in Bristol doing her foundation training she swiftly moved back to the smog and rush of the capital. She has spent time at Bart's Hospital as an SHO in the Restorative and Oral Surgery specialties for 2 years and has a special interest in working with anxious and medically complex patients.

Dr Napier has attended courses with the IAS Academy in occlusion and management of the worn dentition and continues to keep up to date with developments in general and aesthetic dentistry attending regular courses with the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry since she was a student.

She is always keen to work with her patients to achieve their goals and puts oral health and function at the forefront of any of her treatment.

DR ROBIN RATCLIFFE BSc BDS MSc (Periodontology) (U.Lond) PgDip (Implants)

Periodontist

Dr Robin Ratcliffe qualified as a dentist with Distinction from the London Hospital Dental Institute in 2003. He completed his Periodontology postgraduate training in 2007, with Distinction. He holds a Diploma in Dental Implantology from Warwick University.

Robin has been a Clinical Teacher at King’s College Dental School at Guy’s Hospital since 2007, and is Module Lead for Year 2 of The University of Essex’s successful Periodontology Postgraduate Course. He also holds a direct clinical post as a Periodontist at Guy’s Hospital in addition to his teaching commitments.

Robin provides a full range of periodontal dentistry; from the non-surgical and surgical management of gum disease, advanced bone and gum regeneration treatments, to comprehensive planning for patients whose mouths have been severely damaged and require full rehabilitation.

In addition, Dr Ratcliffe undertakes aesthetic gingival recontouring and gum grafting (mucogingival surgery) around natural teeth and implants.

Dr Ratcliffe is an active member of key global Periodontal and Implant societies and contributes to the promotion of periodontal health in a range of settings, both in primary care and in hospital environments.

MIRELLA LAYTON

Dental Hygienist & Therapist

Mirella began her career in Dentistry in Brazil and has moved to the UK quickly becoming qualified here in dental hygiene and therapy. Mirella has been with the practice since her move and is a keen learner, studying further in facial aesthetics.

Mirella offers not only hygiene appointments but fillings, botox, fillers and a range of other therapies.

She has a lovely manner with patients and keeps up to date with new developments. Mirella will also be offering a compliment of aesthetic and wellness treatments from our clinic.

LORRAINE BENNEWITH

Practice Manager

Lorraine qualified from the Glasgow Dental Hospital with a Certificate of Proficiency in Dental Nursing in 1997. She has extensive experience working in general practice with additional training in implant nursing.

Other ongoing professional training has included Achieving High Standards in Infection Control, Impression taking, Radiography, Advanced Dental Implant procedures for dental nurses, Clinical Photography.

VICKY WOOTTON

Practice Manager

Vicky qualified from Guy’s Hospital in 1993 and has many years of experience as a general dental nurse and practice manager. Vicky joined our practice in 2022 as she wanted a new role after her son was born. She thoroughly enjoys being front of house and helping patients.

Vicky enjoys spending time with her family and jogging in her spare time!

ANASTASSIA KUZMINA

Dental Nurse

Ana received her NEBDN National Diploma in Dental Nursing in 2017. She enjoys being in the surgery and being part of a patient's treatment journey and seeing the difference it can make to them. She especially enjoys seeing the transformations made possible through cosmetic dentistry and she has an interest in dental implants as well as oral health education.

In her spare time Ana enjoys music, art, going to the gym and reading.

ALEX PLATTEN

Dental Nurse

Alex has been a valued member at the practice for 5 years, she excels at keeping her surgery organised and her dentist running on time. Alex enjoys supporting patients through extractions and routine checks alike. You can often find her at reception with a smile and thriving in all settings from clinical to administrative.

In her spare time Alex enjoys eating and keeping up with her busy social life.

SIMONA TUTUEANU

Dental Nurse

Simona achieved her NVQ Level 3 in Dental Nursing in 2022 and is working towards her implant nursing qualification. She enjoys being in the surgery to care for patients and keeping them relaxed and comfortable. Simona loves getting stuck in with big cases and ensuring treatment runs as efficiently as possible. In her spare time Simona loves traveling, spending time with her family and is a star baker (creations which the team regularly get to appreciate!)

LOIS CLEARY

Trainee Dental Nurse

Lois has joined the team shortly after covid and is training to become a dental nurse in a complex time for the field. She is a ray of sunshine and brings a smile to everything she does. Lois has quickly become a valued member of the team and looks forward to supporting patients in their dental journeys.
